2017 VCM Carpet Classic Results:
Well, what a day! First off, thank you to the sponsors VCM Coffee Machines, Essential RC, Hearns Hobbies, and Ausrab Industries. The first annual on-road VCM Carpet Classic was a huge event. 38 drivers and 48 entries making sure the racing was fun, fast and furious. With 12th Scale leading the way with 13 drivers, Sportsman not far behind with 11 and Mini with 10. F1 made a welcome return to the PRECC carpets as well. There were even a few drivers who returned to the track after long absences.
The track was lightning fast early and records were being shattered, but it uncharacteristically slowed down over the course of the day. It certainly didn’t slow down the racing. Qualifying shook up the grids with more than a few drivers ending up in unfamiliar positions.
The Finals were fast and action packed as the drivers scrapped for the same pieces of carpet. Some drivers enjoyed streaks of luck while others were on the other end. Loraine Ashby, Luca Polizzi, Kyle Francis and Josh Garton in Mini, Mod, 12th, and F1, all had the overall win sealed by the end of the second main leaving only the minor placings up for grabs. Sportsman and Stock took theirs all the way to main 3.
