Here at PRECC we race according to the rules provided by the Australian Association of Radio Controlled Model Car Clubs (www.aarcmcc.org).
We race on rubber tyres and vehicles are primarily classified according to the motor power level. In some instances, certain technologies are restricted in order to provide a more controlled power system and is generally aimed towards helping beginner drivers learn the sport. In addition to the AARCMCC classes, PRECC runs an entry level class tailored specifically to the needs of its newest drivers.
Tamiya Mini
This class is a new addition to the sanctioned race classes offered by AARCMCC. Its main emphasis is on low cost, affordable and fun racing. For this reason, the chassis in this class is restricted to a front wheel drive front motor chassis offered by Tamiya called the M-03 and also the more recently released M-05. Motor and speed controls are restricted to a very affordable 13T motor and 35A ESC combination offered by Hobbywing which is more than ample power for the mini class.
Sportsman Touring
The first of the touring car classes is Sportsman Touring. This is a non-sanctioned race class and is offered by PRECC as a means to ease the entry of beginner drivers into the onroad race environment. Here the motor is restricted in power to 21.5 turn brushless motors and a controlled list of speed controls must be adhered to. This class emphasises learning the skill of driving a vehicle around the track and also encourages drivers to learn good ettiquette.
Stock Touring
The first of the AARCMCC sanctioned touring car classes is Stock Touring. Here drivers are allowed to run a more powerful 17.5T brushless motor. Drivers in this class have the challenge of piloting a faster vehicle around the track and get to apply their knowledge of car setup to take advantage of track conditions. This class allows the use more technologically advanced speed controls and provides the driver with the perfect environment to improve their skills.
Modified Touring
The most experienced drivers are found in Modified Touring where the power system for the most part unrestricted. Incredible acceleration and insane speeds are obtained by cars in this class requiring a high degree of skill from its competitors. All aspects of racing is tested here from a drivers ability to control the huge power to having the right car setup and even their maintenance regime.
Note: complete class specifications can be found on our Rules page.
